Polish chickens are one of the most recognizable and unique chicken breeds, known for their beautiful feathered crests that give them a fun “pom-pom” appearance. Originally developed in Europe, these ornamental chickens are loved for their personality, striking looks, and gentle nature. While they are not the most productive egg layers, they make wonderful backyard companions and add plenty of character to a flock.

Cold Tolerance: GOOD handle cold temperatures well, but their large crest can become wet and freeze, requiring extra care during winter

Heat Tolerance: GOOD tolerate heat fairly well but need shade and fresh water during hot weather

Predator Evasion: POOR large crest can limit vision, making them more vulnerable to predators

Foraging Ability: FAIR enjoy exploring but may need extra awareness because their vision is partially blocked

Tolerance for Confinement: GOOD adapt well to smaller spaces if provided enrichment and protection

Temperament: Gentle, friendly, curious, and often a little quirky

Aggression Toward Flock Members: VERY LOW generally peaceful and easygoing

Noise Level: MODERATE roosters can be vocal, while hens are usually fairly quiet

Polish chickens quickly became some of the most memorable personalities in our flock. Their beautiful feathered crests and curious nature make them impossible to miss. Our Polish are gentle, unique, and always bring a little extra charm to farm life. While they may not lay the most eggs, their sweet personalities and beautiful appearance make them a favorite here at Marusyna Farm.
